Fri 23rd April - Day 7, Polzeath to Delabole Point (11 miles)

Looking to Kellan Head
Port Quin
I had decided on a leisurely 17 miles today and I had a lie in after another cold night, leaving Polzeath at 9:30.

It was a sunny day and I found I had another blister on a toe of my right foot and one on my right hand from using the walking poles.

The coastal path is very popular, mainly with ‘senior’ walkers, I received a donation from one couple and also met a couple that I had met yesterday.

Looking back west to Kellan Head from Scarnor Pt
The first 2 miles today were easy but then the going got much tougher with a steep descent and ascent for each inlet or river I had to cross.

Coming into Port Isaac there was a film crew and cameras all around, I later discovered they were filming for the series ‘Doc Martin’.

It was 15:00 and had taken me 5.5 hours to do these 8 miles, I was not going to do the other 9 miles to the next campsite at Tintagel before it got dark!

Port Isaac
A couple I met said there was another couple of backpackers ahead of me also going to John o’ Groats, the race is on!!

At 16:30 I found a good pitch for the tent along the path just south of Delabole Point and decided to call it a day, aiming for an early start in the morning.

104 miles completed.
