Sat 12th June - Day 57, White Bridge, Glen Dee to Coylumbridge (17 miles)

Chest of Dee, Glen Dee
The weather was slightly better than yesterday but still not great, very cloudy with light rain.

Mac set off walking after breakfast leaving me to pack up the tent, the last two days must have taken quite a bit out of him so he wanted a head start.

I set off at 08:00, it was easy going on the footpath up Glen Dee, although very boggy at times.

Looking to Corrour Bothy, Lairig Ghru
Mac might have only had a 20 minute start but it seemed to take forever to catch up to him.

Devils Point & Corrour Bothy, Lairig Ghru

This pass through the glen is called the Lairig Ghru & the mountains tower either side of it, the path becomes more boulder strewn and narrows considerably as it gets higher.

With it being the weekend the glen was particularly busy.

Pools of Dee, Lairig Ghru
The weather had improved a bit and we stopped for lunch at the Pools of Dee, the source of the River Dee, from here the sides of the glen rise steeply right from the path itself giving impressive craggy outcrops.

Rothiemurchus, Aviemore
The path descends into Rothiemurchus Forest, an area of native Scots Pine trees, and ends at Coylumbridge. We stopped at the campsite here & finished the trip off with a meal at the hotel.

In spite of the poor weather the last 3 days have been very enjoyable.
