Tue 22nd June - Day 67, Canisbay to John o' Groats (3 miles). The End
Mill west of John o' Groats |
The End |
We walked off the ferry 45 minutes later to find a reception party of family, friends, Age Concern, local press & radio waiting.
During my walk I only let myself think 2 or 3 days ahead, and looking back is all a bit of a blur, so up until the reception I hadn't really thought about how far I had walked. I was fortunate I was walking 'home', other 'End to Enders' who don't have anyone to meet them must find it a huge anti-climax when they finish.
Thanks to mobile technology I have been able to provide updates to the website and with the daily communication to 'Mission Control' to hear your emails I didn't really feel that I was walking alone, thanks again.
Apart from my feet needing time to cool down I feel great, I have only lost a couple of lbs in weight, but I have been eating a lot. I am going to have to wean myself off chocolate & custard or I won't be doing much more running in the future!!
Before I do anything else I am going to have to spend a while writing up my journal before it all gets lost in the haze of time.
Once again many thanks to all of you who have supported & sponsored me, money is still coming in so I don't have any figures yet.
