Tue 22nd June - Day 67, Canisbay to John o' Groats (3 miles). The End

Mill west of John o' Groats
Apologies for the site not being updated last night but Sandra wasn't home!!!

The End
With a slight improvement in the weather, it wasn't raining, I walked the last 3 miles to John o' Groats with Sandra, arriving at 09:30. Having said I was to be catching the 10:30 ferry back to Orkney I was hoping the 'Signpost' photographer was going to be there before we had to leave. As you can see, he was.

We walked off the ferry 45 minutes later to find a reception party of family, friends, Age Concern, local press & radio waiting.
During my walk I only let myself think 2 or 3 days ahead, and looking back is all a bit of a blur, so up until the reception I hadn't really thought about how far I had walked. I was fortunate I was walking 'home', other 'End to Enders' who don't have anyone to meet them must find it a huge anti-climax when they finish.

Thanks to mobile technology I have been able to provide updates to the website and with the daily communication to 'Mission Control' to hear your emails I didn't really feel that I was walking alone, thanks again.

Apart from my feet needing time to cool down I feel great, I have only lost a couple of lbs in weight, but I have been eating a lot. I am going to have to wean myself off chocolate & custard or I won't be doing much more running in the future!!
Before I do anything else I am going to have to spend a while writing up my journal before it all gets lost in the haze of time.

Once again many thanks to all of you who have supported & sponsored me, money is still coming in so I don't have any figures yet.
