Sun 13th June - Day 58, Coylumbridge to Tomatin (20 miles)

Forestry track north of Aviemore
We walked into Aviemore for breakfast then did some shopping, I also decided to buy a new gas stove as my old one had started flaring up everytime I lit it.

General Wades Military Road, west of Carrbridge
Mac was catching the train back home so I left him at the station & headed into the woods on the west side of Aviemore. I was to be following forestry tracks to Slochd.

Walking north for the first three miles the tracks looked as though they were very rarely walked, at Kinveachy I turned north-west and picked up General Wade's Military Road, this was now a good track.

Sluggan Bridge over River Dulnain
Crossing over the minor road the track was now a cycleway, going over the unusual Sluggan Bridge to Slochd. At Slochd summit there were lots of mountain goats on the other side of the road, walking up the side of the cutting.

Goats on A9 at Slochd
The cycleway was now on tarmac and then a minor road to Tomatin.
I arrived at 17:45 and had a good meal in the Inn here, I had hoped I would be able camp in their grounds, they weren't keen on that idea as there were no facilities for me so I walked on for another 2 miles and pitched my tent next to the railway line, everytime a train went by the draught shook the tent.

It was an easy going 20 miles and had been a dry windy day.

1011 miles completed.
