Sat 8th May - Day 22, Sedbury to Hudnalls (9 miles)

Looking south back to Severn Bridge
This morning was the first that there had been no condensation at all in the tent.

Today was definitly going to be an easy day today so I treated myself to a full cooked breakfast in the guest house, among the 8 others having breakfast were Mary & George who were also walking Offas Dyke.

It was 10 o' clock before I eventually set off, my latest start so far, walking through Tutshill to get onto the footpath.

I passed Mary & George on my way to the Devils Pulpit, a viewpoint looking over the River Wye & Tintern Abbey.

In contrast to Stage 2 this was like a hikers motorway, maybe it is just the weekend, there was a large group here and I collected £10:90 in a whip round someone organasied, unfortunately it was all in loose change, more weight to carry!

I met hiker Dave Peachey and he told me of a campsite sign he had just passed at Oak Cottage near Hudnalls. This was just a private cottage with a paddock field that backpackers could use for £4, the owners gave me a cup of tea and waived the fee as I was walking for charity.

I pitched the tent at 16:00 just as the rain started, a while later I realised I had left my walking poles in the conservatory, when I went back to get them a ginger cat ran out through the door when I opened it.

A bit later on I heard the lady of the house calling for the cat, she came to the tent to ask if I had seen it, I told her it went out when I had opened the door, unfortunately it was their son's cat and they were looking after it while he was away. They were having to keep it in as it didn't know the area.

I heard them calling for it and banging the food dish for most of the night !! - I left very early the next morning !!

358 miles completed.
