Thu 20th May - Day 34, Whaley Bridge to Hayfield (5 miles)

Looking N to the Pennines
Well I can't have any easier days than this one, I was only going 5 miles to Hayfield.

I still woke when the light changed at 4:30am but had a long lie in, I listened to it rain for 2 hours until 7:30 and at 8:30 I checked in with the love of my life back at base camp (I missed last nights check in).

Breakfast was a handful of nuts & raisins and a mars bar, all the food I had left, but at least I had my mug of tea. I was able to pack away a dry tent and finally set off at 10:30, there had been no one at the campsite to collect any fees !!

Looking NE over Hayfield to the Pennines
I climbed up a hill to look down over Hayfield and across to the moors on the Pennine Way, I just want to carry on walking and get right into the Pennine Way, but I stuck to my plan saving the moors for tomorrow.

At Hayfield I posted home the maps and logs of the route I had so far completed, it's a bit less weight to carry.

The site fee was waived at the campsite and I got a washing done, I had a relaxing afternoon in the sunshine watching my clothes dry on the fence.

559 miles completed.
