Mon 14th June - Day 59, Tomatin to Milton (20 miles)

Skeleton of deer near Moy
An early start at 06:40, it was dry but windier than yesterday and I continued along the cycleway for a mile or so before crossing the A9 and then walking along the B9154 for a short while to Moy. I saw a complete skeleton of a young deer by the side of the road, most unusual as it can't have been scavanged by anything.

Military Road west of Moy
At Moy I turned off the road, going over the railway line then under the A9 onto a footpath getting back onto the Military Road again. This time there was a signpost saying 'Footpath to Inverness'.

Baby Roe Deer, west of Moy
It was easy going again but I was walking into a very strong wind. Coming into the forest I turned a corner and disturbed a deer and it's fawn, the deer ran off into the trees leaving the baby which played dead while I took some pictures.

There were plenty of signposts today and I came out of the forest briefly to cross the B851, then go over the River Nairn at Faillie, a short section through the trees again then a bit of farmland to Milton of Leys where I picked up the minor road into Inverness.

Looking NW to Inverness from Milton of Leys
I got into the centre of Inverness at 12:00.

Realising I would have to be carrying food for 3 days and would need more space in the rucsac, I went to the Post Office and sent home clothes and kit I was unlikely to need in the last week.

Having spent 3 hours in Inverness I went over the Kessock Bridge and turned west through North Kessock, my goal for the day was Craigory Caravan Park, 2 miles further on, but when I arrived there I was informed they had stopped taking tents 3 years ago.
The manager was not inclined to let me stay there so I had to carry on for a bit and to find a wild site in some woods.

20 miles today, I think I should reach JOG on Tuesday 22nd!

1031 miles completed.
