Sun 30th May - Day 44, Greenhead to Bellingham (22 miles)

I had an early start, leaving just after 06:30, it was sunny with some high cloud.

It was straight onto Hadrian's Wall and I had the wall to myself for 3 hours before I started meeting people. With both the Pennine Way & Hadrian's Wall trails running along it, as well as having easy access for day trippers and being a weekend, it was very busy.

The wall had a lot of ups & downs like the SW Coastal Path but on a much smaller scale.

The Pennine Way left the Wall after about 9 miles, just before Milecastle 37, and I was on my own again.

Walking north again I stopped for an early lunch just as I came out of the first section of Wark Forest. I had another short section of the forest to go through then it was 6 miles to Bellingham.

There was a shower of rain for half an hour as I was coming over the last of the hills, Ealingham Rigg.

I walked past the first campsite on the B road and went to the one at Demesne Farm in the village.
