Sat 1st May - Day 15, Widemouth to Lynton (16 miles)

Combe Martin
I took the tent down dry for a change but it was misty as I set off at 08:00, I hadn't been going long before light rain started and I had to put the waterproofs on.

I went by Watermouth Castle and on in to Combe Martin

It was not so busy today but I did have to wait at a stile while a column of 22 walkers went by.

The rain stopped and I had my lunch on the cliff before turning inland and dropping down to cross the River Heddon then climbing gradually back up the slope to the coast.

Coming into Woody Bay, which lived up to it's name and was a wooed area, I met a father & daughter who gave me a donation and said they were planning to walk from JOG back to LE starting in July.

Just before I came into Lynton I passed 2 goats roaming freely on the side of the hill.

The walking had not been as severe as I was led to believe & I made the 16 miles to Lynton by 16:30 without suffering too much from my blister.

With it being a bank holiday weekend the campsite here is mobbed & the tents are almost guy to guy.

229 miles completed.
