Fri 11th June - Day 56, Beinn a' Ghlo, Glen Tilt to White Bridge, Glen Dee (134miles)

It was not good weather today, we woke up to rain on the tent and we could see nothing when we looked outside as we were in the cloud, there seemed to be little wind.

We left at 08:10 and there was no problem following the ridge in the cloud to the 2nd summit Braigh Coire Chruinn-bhalgain (1070m) but it wasn't quite so easy coming down to find the path up to the 3rd one.
Getting up onto this last ridge it was a very strong wind and the gusts kept knocking us off balance, so it was a good thing the ridges were wide.

We reached the third summit on Beinn a' Ghlo, Carn nan Gabhar (1129m) at 10:45, keeping to the tops we descended by the north shoulder.

It was hard work walking through the heather and the rain didn't help, at least we had some good glen views once we got below the cloud.

When we got downto the bottom by the Old Shielings on An Lochain we stopped for a quick lunch, it wasn't much fun in the rain.

We crossed over that burn then we had to get to the path on the other side of the River Tilt, with no bridge we had to walk along the rougher east side until we found a bit we could ford across, which we did just past the Falls of Tarf.

After that the going was easy through the glen on the track but we still had to cross two more rivers, Bynack Burn and Geldie Burn, before getting to our days destination at White Bridge, Glen Dee at 18:00.

It was only 14 miles but it had been a tough section over the mountains in the weather conditions.

Cooking our tea in the rain was not much fun but at least there were no midges.

974 miles completed.
