It was a shame we didn't have chance to meet up for a coffee the other day. At least it wasn't one of our ships blocking your route. Looking forward to seeing you on Saturday. (by Richard)

Coasting Round Britain

30th March 2013 to 12th July 2014
Grimsby to Withernsea - The End (63)
5611 out of 5630 miles completed

Log No 369. Tue 8th Jul 2014 - Stone Creek to Kilnsea, 13 miles (5611 miles walked)

Keyingham Drain Outfall
It was a slightly misty start this morning and everything was wet when I set off at 07.50.

I was supposed to be walking on top of the embankment but I decided to take to the roads to start with since my blisters were still painful.

The footpath from Patrington Channel
It was slow going and took a while to get into a less painful rhythm but every time I paused I had to try and find it agsin.

The weather had brightened up and the grass dried out, after 6 miles I crossed Patrington Channel and got onto the footpath to walk on the embankment to Kilnsea.

The footpath to Kilnsea
The footpaths were good and the grass was short, there was one shower which made me don waterproofs but it was mercifully brief as it was far too warm to have to wear more than a t-shirt.

Looking to Spurn Pt from Easington Clays
It was too hazy for a good view across the river but there were a few ships going up and down.

From a distance Spurn Point looks like an island though I do believe that at high tide it is cut off, I'll find out tomorrow.

Kilnsea
There are not many houses at Kilnsea but one of them, The Nookin, had a small campsite, Driftwood, and had offered me a free pitch, thank you very much. I eventually arrived here at 13.50 having taken 6 hours to cover 13 miles.

That leaves 4 days to walk the remaining 19 miles or so!
