All the Best Dave on the last stretch, I hope weather is kind to you. Look forward to seeing the rest of your walk.

Log No 269. Mon 10th Mar 2014 - Sun 30th March, a final break home (4086 miles walked)

Well that was my last break, with a finishing date of 12th July and about 1600 miles still to walk I don't think there is enough slack in the timetable to have much more than the odd weekend off.

Having had three weeks without a rucsac on my back it is going to take some getting used to carrying a full pack again.
I weighed the rucsac before I left home and it was 20kg, though there was a bit more food in it than I would expect to be carrying.

Fundraisers: Linda, Sandra, Winnie & Helen
I must give a big thankyou to Winnie & Elma who organised a 50-50 sale and, along with helpers, raised £1220 over a weekend.

I left Orkney on the Friday night ferry to Aberdeen, with no cabins available due to the school holidays starting I slept on the floor in my sleeping bag, that being preferable to a reclining seat.
I broke the train journey south from Aberdeen at Bristol and got back to Lizard this afternoon (Sunday) and checked into the Youth Hostel for a final night of comfort.

The weather appears to be as I left it three weeks ago and I hope it continues for a spell while I get back into the way of backpacking again.
