Log No 236. Wed 5th Feb 2014 - Rain stop play at Porthcawl (3604 miles walked)

To put it mildly the forecast for today was not good - rain and severe wind.

It was heavy rain as I drove to Porthcawl and was starting to get light, the wind was blowing the camper about and as I came up to the sea front I was confronted with the sight of white waves crashing upwards 3 times the height of the buildings at the lighthouse.

I had planned on leaving the camper on the road at the sea front but in these conditions I didn't want to risk it and drove on a bit to be further away from the shore.

The tide was high and the sea impressive with large waves rolling in to pound the sea walls.

With the wind and rain battering the camper I wasn't going outside to take any pictures and in light of the forecast of even stronger winds in the afternoon decided not to walk today. I think this is the first time the weather has stopped me walking.

I did take some photos a couple of hours later when it had calmed down a bit, the weather did bring out hordes of photographers with their long lenses and tripods.
