Outside the pedestrian Tyne Tunnel
Inside the tunnel
It was a cold cloudy day as Karen dropped us (Mick and his two other sons Stephen & Chris) off back at Bede's World, Jarrow at 9.45.

We crossed the Tyne by going through the pedestrian tunnel, we had to walk down and up the escalators as they weren't working, 26m down 270m long.

Leaving the tunnel we followed the cycleway to Tynemouth, the route was interesting as it meandered through the marina and park.

Looking back down the Tyne from Tynemouth
Back on the coastal route we walked along the beach to Cullercoats where we had a break at 11.45.

We stayed on the promenade through Whitley Bay then the cycleway to the lighthouse on St Mary's Island, we didn't go across the causeway to the island, but had a hot doughnut instead.

St Mary's Island
Staying on the cycleway we went past Seaton Sluice then through the dunes, stopping halfway along for another break.

The weather was starting to improve, warming up slightly as the sun put in an appearence.

At Blyth
Coming into Blyth we walked through the park to get to the side of the harbour.
We were soon forced back inland a bit so we just stuck to the B1329 then the A193 to get to the school by Cowpen for 15.30 where we had arranged to meet Karen.
She had arrived just before us and took us back to Andy & Rosie's, thankfully, Mick's knee hadn't bothered him on today's 17 miles.

This was Mick's last day of his first stint walking with me and his company has made the first 10 days seemingly fly by, it will feel very strange walking on my own.
