Log No 132. Sun 15th Sep 2013 - Tue 17th, Trip home to collect the campervan (2030 miles walked)
Sunday was as forecast with wind & rain, my bus was at 08.00 so I had to start my breakfast at 06.00 in the dark.I didn't want to end up rushing to catch the bus so I had cereal bars instead of making porridge.
A cyclist arrived at the campsite late last night, his tent was smaller than mine and he was outside trying to eat some food at the picnic table but the midges making life difficult for him.
When I got out my tent this morning there were big puddles of water all round the cyclist's tent.
It took 4 buses to get me to the ferry and the connection times were pretty tight but there were no delays. When I got to Inverness it looked like I might not get on the bus as there were a lot of people waiting to get on and I hadn't booked. Luckily there was room with just 4 empty seats remaining.
Tuesday was still windy, the 11.00 ferry was going but all the sailings were taking longer than scheduled and we never left until 11.30 and got to Scrabster at 13.20, we should have been in at 12.30.
After stopping in Fort Augustus for fish and chips I continued on the A82, I was going as far as Tarbet then going over the 'Rest and be thankful' to stop at a big layby about 3 miles east of Cairndow that I had noticed on the bus journey on Sunday.
However, I hadn't realised the road was closed south of Crianlarich at Pulpit Rock so I had to go back and go through Dalmally and Inverary, another delay.
I got here at 21.30, it seems a long day and I still have to make my packed lunch for tomorrow, I have to catch the 08.00 bus from Cairndow to get back to Furnace.
