Log No 4. Tue 2nd Apr 2013 - N of Filey to Boggle Hole, 19 miles (73 miles walked)

Scarborough sea front
After scraping the ice off the tent we packed up and set off at 8.20, it was a similar day to yesterday.

We kept having short snow showers, no sooner had we decided the shower was going to last and we put our waterproofs on then it blew over 2 minutes later. The Way took a slight detour near Osgodby Pt.

The tide was in as we came into Scarborough and we had to time the waves to avoid getting wet.

After picking up some bits & pieces from the shops we walked along the sea front, pausing to speak to one of the locals who was sat on a bench, to the end of North Bay where we got back onto the cliff path.

Looking back along the Cleveland Way
It was easy walking again and we stopped for lunch at Long Nab lookout station at 12.45, the sun had come out and it looked promising for the rest of the day.

The next section took a bit longer than expected as there were a couple of descents & ascents at Cloughton Wyke and Hayburn Wyke, the latter having 3 streams to cross.

After this it climbed steadily for a couple of miles before dropping down into Ravenscar.

Boggle Hole
Here we stopped in a Tearoom at 3.55 for a break and had a pot of tea.

The Way also left the coast here at Old Peak because of dangerous cliffs but soon rejoined it again.

We had another steep descent at Stoupe Beck and then an easier one at Boggle Hole, just before Robin Hoods Bay.

It was 5.30 and there was a youth hostel here which had space for us so we booked in, it won't be cold tonight.

20 miles today.
