Training Walk - Sun 10th Feb 2013

I hadn't intended doing a long walk this weekend but we had been invited out to Aunty Betty's, in Harray, for tea so I thought I might aswell just walk out there.

It was a dry day, mainly sunny but with a strong SE wind and occasional snow flurries. The wind was behind me otherwise I might not have gone.

I left the house at 12.45 and went through the town and Muddisdale Park on my way up to the top of Wideford Hill.

I took a straight line down the hill to come onto the main road at Rennibister.

There were snow showers to the right and left of me alternately, fortunately they tried their hardest to avoid me.

From Finstown I took the footpath into Binscarth Woods and followed the track round the side of the hill to Wasdale, going past the loch and back onto the road again at Refuge corner.

Heading towards Dounby I turned off on to the Stoneyhill Rd and got to Aunty Betty's for 10 minutes past 4.

Plenty of time for a mug of tea and a shower before the rest of the family arrived.

It was a non-stop walk of 11 miles carrying a 12 Kg rucsac in 3 hours 25 mins.
