Log No 224. Fri 24th Jan 2014 - Neyland to Pembroke (3425 miles walked)

A building with a moat
Today was forecast a day of rain and it was spot on but to work in with the winter bus services I was only walking 6 miles to Pembroke so I could suffer a couple of hours rain.

From Neyland I crossed over the road toll bridge into Pembroke Dock, this area used to be old naval dockyards.

Goats
I followed the coastal footpath signs and they took me uphill through a wood to go past a fort like building which had a moat and was dated VR 1844. There was nothing to say what it was.

Stepping Stones
The path then went through farmland by the side of the Pembroke River, all of this section was very muddy, and it came into old Pembroke at the Castle.

I walked round the castle then up the road a bit to Monkton where I'll start walking from tomorrow.

Pembroke Castle
I walked back towards the castle and called in the Tourist Information, more in hope than expectation, to find out if any campsites in the area would be open.

Surprise, surprise there was one and quite handily situated so I'll be staying there on Sunday to recharge the camper, I've been working by torchlight for the past week.

Tomorrow's weather is supposed to be better than today's then very bad on Sunday.
