Good to see you had some sunshine for a change.
Think you'll find the A75 will be back with a vengeance (17 miles of it) when you reach Newton Stewart. In the meantime enjoy the Machars peninsula!
Hope the blue skies are still there in 8 days time. (by Karen & Mick)

Log No 155. Thu 10th Oct 2013 - Drummore to Glenluce, 19 miles (2419 miles walked)

Drummore Bay
Yesterday's gale must have blown away the poor weather, there was hardly a cloud in the sky this morning and I don't mind a cold wind too much.

I left Drummore at 09.35 on the Shore Road and then an access road back up onto the main road.

Sea wall from Drummore
Coming round to the next bay I walked along the top of the sea wall as far as it went then it was back on the road.

New England Bay
I managed to get off the road at New England Bay and I stopped for a break at the picnic site which was immediately before the campsite I had spent the last 3 nights at.

If you are squeamish skip the next paragraph.

The campsite is overrun with rabbits and as I was leaving my pitch yesterday morning there was one sat on the road infront of me. I was only going slow and I avoided it with my front wheels, expecting it to have run off I was surprised when I felt a bump from my rear wheels. The rabbit had never moved and looking in my mirror I could see it flattened on the road.
There must be something wrong with these rabbits as there were two dead ones lying near the camper the next morning.

Stony beach at Logan Mills
The footpath continued to Logan Mills where it dropped down to the stony shore.

This bit was hard going on my ankles and I was glad to get back up onto the road at Chapel Rossan.

Luce Sands
Not wanting to walk on any more stones for a while I stayed on the road until Sandhead at the start of Luce Sands.

The footpath by the shore continued north and after crossing Sandmill Burn at the Holiday Park went along the sand dunes.

Footpath through the dunes at Clayshant Quarry
At Clayshant Quarry the footpath snaked through the dunes, crossing Culmore Burn before returning to the road by the quarry entrance.

It might have been good to walk along Luce Sands but the MOD use this area and access is restricted.

I stayed on the road, joining the A75 to get to Glenluce for 16.00 and a bus back to the camper in Stranraer. The A75 was not good to walk on as it had no verges.

19 sunny miles and the forecast is promising.
