Date: 15/06/2022 Hughley to Wrightington near Chorley

The weather is still excellent and I was feeling good this morning. Our proposed route for the day was 63 miles to Knutsford, and the plan was to do another 20 miles or so after that to make the next day a bit easier.
There was not a lot of climbing today and we set off at a good pace at 9 o' clock and had a couple of short breaks on our 38 miles to Nantwich where we were meeting up with Rodney for a long lunch break.

We continued at our good pace and reached Knutsford by 3:30.
We were having difficulty trying to find a campsite so carried on for another 15 miles or so and got Lizzie on the case to try and find a site near Chorley.
She only found one in the area but we hadn't realised the true distance on the map and it was a bit of a shock to hear it was still 21 miles ahead and, not that it bothered me, there were no facilities.
We got to Leigh at 17:30, the traffic was choc-a-block and we ended up cycling on the pavements into the centre then we picked up the cycleway along the Leeds & Liverpool Canal and onto the A573 into Wigan for 18:15.
It was getting to be a struggle to finish the ride.
We came out of Wigan on the B5376 and onto the A49 turning off near Chorley to cross over the M6 on a minor road to try and find the campsite. We eventually got to the road this site was supposed to be on and we could see no sign of it
Rodney was ahead of us and he hadn't managed to find it either, fortunately Rodney phoned while we were wondering what to do to say that he had found a site with space about 3 miles away and it did have full facilities.
It was some relief we finally ended up at Charity Farm campsite at 7:45.
The route itself was not too strenuous but getting on for 11 hours on the go was taking it's toll mentally. I didn't actually feel too bad.
We had done 99.95 miles on Nick's Strava but 102 miles according to my Garmin, with 2700 ft of climbing in 7 hrs 30 mins average speed 13.3 mph.
