Date: 13/06/2022 Cheddar to Westbury on Severn

Great news! Norman found his bike part in the camper after all.

We set off in super weather again and we were to meet up with Nick's uncle Tim who was to join us for the ride.
The start of today's ride was a cycleway along the dismantled railway line from Cheddar, 8 miles to the railway station at Yatton, unfortunately it was more suited for mountain bikes rather than racers as it was just a hardcore surface and the barriers at the many crossings were not easy to get through.
It was a slow but pleasant 8 miles, we had a section through a long tunnel passing under the A38, luckily Nick's front light was bright enough for us to see the rough ground.

We got to Yatton at 11:00 am where Tim was waiting for us, we all had a Tea/Coffee in the station cafe and left half an hour later following the cycleroutes 26 and 410 on minor roads over the M5 to Clevedon then alongside the M5 to get onto the motorway bridge to cross over the River Avon.
Then a convoluted way through Avonmouth along the River Severn on cycleroutes 41 and 4 to meet up with Rodney at 14:00 at the Motorway services at the east end of the Severn Bridge.
After having lunch in the camper we cycled over the bridge into Wales.
From Chepstow we rode on the B4228 to get to Coleford then the B4226 through the Forest of Dean. The final 6 miles to Westbury on Severn was on the main road and I suffered the first puncture with the rear wheel finding a nail in the road, I took the easy option and left it up to Nick to put a new innertube in, he did it in superfast time.
We got to the campsite at Apple Orchard C&C Site, Whitehouse Farm, Westbury on Severn around 6 pm where Nick's uncle Tim still had another 10 miles to go, another tiring day so I never got the log done.

65.5 miles, 4100 ft climbing in 6 hrs at 10.9 mph.
