Log: Inverness to Helmsdale

Date: 22/06/2022 Inverness to Helmsdale

The weather continues to be good but as it seemed colder I set off well wrapped up.
We managed an early start at 8:30 and went over the Kessock Bridge then the cycleway to Tore and onto Dingwall.
We had an early stop to divest ourselves of a layer or two as it had warmed up considerably with the sun coming out and then had our usual stop after about an hour.
It was a slight head wind going to Dingwall but would be behind us for most of the rest of the day.
The Cycle Route No 1 took us on minor roads to Evanton, Alness (a short break here) and Tain, then the A9 to meet up with Rodney for lunch on the Dornoch Bridge.
The plan was to go to Dornoch and around the coast to The Mound but with a sign saying the Road to Dornoch Closed we just stayed on the A9.
It was the A9 all the way now with a break in Golspie, Nick had put in an earlier request for a stop here at the Coffee Bothy for Cake & Coffee.

Just as we were preparing to leave the cafe it started to rain, it didn't amount to much but it was damp for the remaining 16 miles and I was the last to arrive (going at my own pace) at Helmsdale at 16:10.

Nick & I were staying at the Helmsdale Hostel, Norman & Lizzie in the camper at the Pier while Rodney & Janice were in a hotel. As this was the last night the 6 of us would be here together we all dined out at La Mirage for a final meal.
