Lands End to John o' Groats - June 2022

Team Orkney: 3 cyclists & 1 support member will be cycling from Lands End back home to Orkney, starting on 10th June.
We raised £4535 for The British Heart Foundation and Orkney Blide Trust .
Nick also set up a facebook page for those of you on social media.

Back in November 2019 my son-in-law Nick asked me if I would drive his camper van as a support vehicle for his proposed cycle trip from Lands End to John o’ Groats, I declined but said I would cycle along with him. I’m not a cyclist, but fancied another challenge.

We planned to start in May/June the following year and carry all the gear to camp along the route, then Covid happened.....

Although Covid is still with us it looks like we will get to do the trip this summer, having slept on the idea for 2 years the reality of having to carry all this equipment hit home and we decided to use B&B and hotels instead and take 14 days to ride the 1000 miles.

Another cyclist, Norman, asked if he could come along too, so now we are three and we got the route planned, based on where we could get the accommodation booked.

Since booking everything for a start date of 10th June, we now have the offer of support, Rodney has volunteered to drive Norman’s camper van. With the flexibility of a support vehicle we are now planning to use campsites again.
